Notorious RBG

During Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, there are so many women we admire and would like to celebrate. The one who comes to mind first is Ruth Bader Ginsburg who passed away in September 2020. She had served on the US Supreme Court since 1993 and had continued to work through two battles with cancer. Her intelligence, perseverance, tenacity and humor made her a woman admired in the United States and throughout the world.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg dedicated so much of her life advocating for women’s rights and gender equality and her dissent in the Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber opinion is believed to have inspired the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which President Obama signed into law in 2009. It has made it easier for employees to win pay discrimination claims.

We also admire the extensive collar collection she added to her Supreme Court black robe. It became her distinguishing mark, and the lace one has become a cultural sign of its own. In tribute to her, we created an accessory of our own for Rapt.

We also love that she eventually embraced the nickname "The Notorious R.B.G.", as she was fondly called. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was and will always be a true icon!
