Waste Not
Earth Day is the perfect time to tell you more about Rapt, an idea born from the sudden realization one day that wrapping paper, which we had been using for decades without really thinking much about it, was a real waste. A waste of money. A waste of time. And more importantly, a waste of natural resources.
We created a beautiful and sustainable solution to gift giving and are thrilled that more and more people are switching from single-use wrapping paper to reusable fabric gift wrap. Thanks for being part of a community looking to make sustainable change.
At Rapt, we strive to be sustainable in as many ways as possible. Obviously, the product itself is meant to be used and reused, eliminating tons of paper going to landfills. On this same theme, we have kept our packaging to a minimum. No oversized box with one tiny item in it. No unnecessary paper receipts … or bubble wrap … or excess crumpled paper … or packing peanuts. We use small amounts of paper - for a personal note, a small instruction card and a few gift tags. But that’s it. If you have ideas on ways we can continue to be an even more sustainable company send us a note. We welcome any feedback!
Like so many changes, it takes time to change a habit. But think of the changes we have seen over the last several decades: municipal recycling programs, reusable grocery bags, refillable water bottles, electric cars - all ubiquitous now. And we will hopefully be adding reusable gift wrap to that list.
Rapt is the gift that keeps on giving. Many of our customers are keeping Rapt in-house and using it for all their celebrations throughout the year. They tell us they change the accents to switch up the look! Others give it away and make Rapt part of the present. Or Rapt is the present! And yet another group always asks, “May we ask for the Rapt back?” We leave that up to you but think it’s perfectly acceptable. The fact that we get that question so often tells us that people like Rapt so much they want to keep it. And that makes our day!
Word is spreading and we are sending Rapt all over the country: to Maine and Minnesota; North Carolina and California; to Nantucket Island off the coast of Massachusetts and and all the way to Bainbridge Island off the coast of Seattle. From sea to shining sea!
Thank you for passing it on, for spreading the word, for joining the movement, for making a change for good. Together we can make a big impact on the planet. Here’s to Earth Day every day!
