Trash talking
We are more than a third of the way through the year, and the holidays are a distant memory. However, we have a quick question about holiday garbage. Was this the scene at your house on Christmas morning? Have you forgotten? Are you blocking it out?
According to The Cool Down, the US generates around 4.6 million pounds of wrapping paper annually, and 2.3 million pounds of it goes to landfills every year. That is a sh*#ton of trash!! Excuse my French! And that’s just gift wrap!
We can do better.
It’s never too late to change a habit. We have read several books on changing habits* and all of them suggest starting small. We recommend starting with our Ensemble Set which includes 3 sheets: small, medium and large. Giving a book? Our medium is perfect. How about a piece of jewelry? Our small should do the trick. A board game? The large should cover you. And the gift wrap is part of the gift. Pass it on, pay it forward.
It’s easy as pie! Once you start wrapping with reusable fabric gift wrap you will wonder why we haven’t been doing this all along. It’s not a new idea; furoshiki wrapping cloths have been in Japan and other parts of Asia for centuries. But it’s a fairly new idea in the US.
