bird love
If you feed them they will come!
During an annual holiday Yankee Swap, my friend Maria made a fun gift: a series of bird seeders. One was in the shape of a wreath that could be suspended from a tree by a ribbon and the other was a series of ornaments that Maria strung together to make a garland to string between trees or posts.
While I didn’t go home with the gift, I have been thinking about it ever since. Maria said the recipe couldn’t be easier. And the birds love it - especially in the winter. It could be a fun gift for a bird lover!
Here’s the easy recipe for the wreath from Savory
- Spray a bundt pan with nonstick spray
- Mix 2 packets of gelatin in 1 cup warm water.
- Mix in 6 tablespoons of light corn syrup and 1 ½ cups flour
- Add 8 cups of bird seed and mix
- Spread the mixture in the pan and press firmly
- Let it sit in a warm area for at least 24 hours to dry out
- Carefully remove from pan and tie a ribbon around it
- Hang it from a tree or post outside.
